A very pleasant place, Staff very kind and ready to help you. Spacious room with good beds. Close to everything (transport ,city center...) Good quality for affordable prices And when you've to go reception will call you a taxi for the airport with reduce price, Nice experience I recommend.
We booked a room at the Clifden Guesthouse and Apartments for a 1 night stay. Being University students we were looking for a good quality hotel for a small budget - and this hotel did not disappoint! The location is just outside the main areas of Dublin (5 minute walk) and is quiet at night, with no traffic or outside.
Stayed for 2 nights with my husband and baby. We were allocated room
16 on the ground floor.
Positives: huge room, tea & coffee making facilities, powerful shower, large comfy bed, decent breakfast (I stuck to continental), friendly staff.
Negatives: Quite noisy as opposite reception (but I imagine most hotels in Dublin are noisy!), rooms a bit tired with some modern & some very dated furniture & decoration, small shower, not in the nicest area of Dublin but stick to the main roads & you'll be fine.
All in all this hotel catered for all of our needs and was reasonably priced.
I had a fantastic stay at Clifden Hotel. It's located in Dublin city center, close to all the amenities. All the staff at the reception were very efficient and friendly, specially a young guy with glasses. The room was very clean and tidy, also the included breakfast was very nice! I highly recommended and definitely come back again!
We stayed as part of our honeymoon.
Received complimentary wine, breakfast and chocolates.
Room was clean and presented in lovely decor
Staff were very friendly and gave helpful tips as to where to go as well as a map of the city.
Hotel conveniently location for short main streets
I stayed here for 2 nights when I first arrived in Dublin. I was in a tiny single-bed room and I mean tiny, but it was just big enough and you aren't spending time in your hotel room anyways! The room was facing the back side so it was much more quiet than one perhaps facing the street. The bed was so comfortable and the linens were nice and crisp, I was traveling for 2 weeks in Northern Ireland and I would often wish I had a bed as comfortable as that one was! The room had everything you would need - phone to reach front desk, TV, reliable WIFI, tourist binder of info, lots of places to hang things, a desk and a small bathroom. The front desk staff were very helpful and I also stayed for the breakfast which was OK. I traveled in the area alone and as a female, I never once felt unsafe, even at night. Location was really great, just a 10 minute walk to all the good stuff near the Liffey River. I would definitely stay here again.
After reading the recent reviews I was very concerned about staying at this guesthouse but I need not have worried, the staff were very friendly and helpful, we stayed with friends and our rooms were both large with the biggest and most comfortable bed I have ever seen, we also had a single bed. It was spotless, we had a bathroom with bath, shower, and toilet with with all toiletries and plenty of additional clean towels . The only note I would make is that if you cannot manage stairs, please advise them when booking.
The guesthouse is 5 minutes walk from O Connell street, which takes you to the center of Dublin.
If you want to go to some of the historical sites I would recommend that you book before you go, as we were unable to get into some places as they were fully booked
